I realise the the post title did give that away a bit.
Sounds harder than it actually is. Having said that, it takes setting your mind into it for at least the first 4 weeks – then it becomes part of your life.
Changing the world a broccoli floret at a time, darling.
Did I just say that?
I’m all about keeping it real. No gimmicks, tricky ingredients or 14 steps recipes. Life’s crazy enough.
Chasing 3 kids, having my own business and being passionate about regularly writing my blog (therapy!), plus finding time for working out and your know, doing boring stuff like MOT – phew. Try this without going mad and then step into the kitchen to cook supper. What do you do?
The key principle: easy, quick, crowd pleasing meals, shortcuts, more bang for your buck.
Tip Number 1: Add Greens To Your Breakfast!
Milk and cereals, toast and coffee, boring boring. Make brekkie a vegetable packed omelette, rocket topped avocado toast or – my favourite shortcut for your 10-a-day, are you ready….
THE GREEN SMOOTHIE
Not terribly original of me I know, but what can I say – the classics never die. Fabulous opportunity to pack the full on raw goodness, like-for-like I find it much easier to drink my spinach than chew on lettuce… And where you once had zero vegetable intake, suddenly you’re up 2-3 portions before lunchtime- BOOM!
Start the day right and it will make a difference in your gut, mood, skin and – long term – in your health. Let’s face it, we’re all here hoping to make it to an awesome 106 years young , so get blending, babes.
Ingredients (serves 1 generously):
- 1 handfull organic spinach
- 1 handfull of watercress
- 1 handfull blueberries
- 1 thumb root ginger
- ½ thumb root turmeric
- ½ banana
- 8 almonds
- 200 ml water/ maple water/ non-dairy milk of choice
Blend, add a cute straw if you have kids and get drinking your greens. If you’re new to green smoothies, add a dash of apple juice to make “transition” easier.
I love using as many organic goodies as I can and Abel & Cole is my all-time favourite for delicious, 100% organic seasonal produce.
It’s also worth investing in a magnificent blender. I could not live without my Nutribullet for a perfect result every time.
